Hello, I have what appears to be a white jade? Mythical beast. Can someone help me with stone and age?

Perhaps you get a better answer with better pictures,
This item has been treated with some corrosive to make it appear to be a burial piece.

I agree with Ernest reply.
I have seen a lot of similar items being offered as genuine..
Mass produced, colour treatment with very little skill in carving.

Hi Maria,
Thank you for the additional pictures.
Judging from all your pictures posted I submit the following opinion.
Your item is highly probable to be that of nephrite jade. Not treated IMO based on colour and russet feature's.
Carving style and skill is good. Nice finish to head and other. On modern/fake items rarely do they bother finishing or detailing the facial feature's etc.
Your item is IMO what they refer to as a toggle. That is a hand-held finger item that has a cord/wooden beads attached and looped thru one of the end holes.
As to age. Difficult to ascertain by pictures only. I believe based on carving style probably predates Republican period. Have viewed similar to yours described as 19/20th century.
I note that the colour of your item is different from your first posting. Due to flash and or indoor/outdoor lighting.
A very nice example, enjoy!

Thank you so much for your help, Mark. I love this piece, I hold it all the time, it fits in my hand perfectly. The feel of this piece is almost velvety and so smooth, it helps alot with my anxiety but I always put it back in the box where it belongs. Thank you again, Maria :)

Hello Larry, I bought this on ebay about 23 years ago. Recently I sent pictures to an auction house and the person that looked at it said it was very nice, but he didn't say anything more. Never heard from the man again, go figure, it does seem to be the norm nowadays, mine is probably a modern piece also. Can I see pics of yours?
