Subject:Comments and Help Towards Re-Firing A Northern Song Blackware Funeray Jar
Posted By: George Ingraham Wed, Mar 06, 2019 IP: 2601:602:cc00:27c8:9

I am reaching out for help to fire this Song Dynasty ( 960 - 1279 AD ) ceramic / stoneware Chinese funerary jar.

For what ever reason the kiln attendant did not leave this in long enough to melt the glaze.

Would like to re-fire this at 1250 to 1300 °C in oxidizing to neutral atmosphere to bring this glaze to its full glossy luster.

I am running into opposition from local modern kiln owners for fear of damaging their kiln.

If possible I am willing to send this to a traditional Chinese kilns like those of Jingdezhen, or Hebei if they would be willing to help.

I would greatly appreciate any help, guidance and opinions …

I can only post three pictures within this post, but can share more closeups if needed..
