Subject:Chenghua Marked Ginger Jars
Posted By: Jaime Sun, Feb 03, 2019 IP: 2605:e000:1314:9d5:d

Hello all:
I was hoping someone could tell me something about this pair of ginger jars. They have a Chenghua mark which seems fake since it has this white orb around it. You can’t really feel the paint around the mark so if it is fake and done later, how did they do this? Did they fire it again? They do have age and a nice feel to them. My feeling is that, given the way the glaze is crackling, they are 18th century soft paste porcelain that someone marked earlier. Thoughts?
As always, so appreciative of your time!
Best wishes,
Jaime
