Posted By: Myra Wed, Oct 03, 2018 IP: 77.170.249.58

Dear collectors,
I would love to hear your opinion regarding a reticulated porcelain object, found in a brocante store tagged as 'bonbonnière' .
Am i totally mistaken or does it indeed bear some chinese features?
Appreciate your comments.
Thank you.
Greetings, Myra

Hello Myra
I don't know if its Chinese and I don't think its old. It is trying to resemble a "Cricket Box" I think. A cricket box is like a cage for crickets that is used to store the little insects while taking them to tournaments. Tournaments designed to demonstrate the act of insect on insect eating each others heads off.......I'll let you make your own mind up on that one. Best wishes....

I could of course be completely wrong and this is a place to put one's favourite boiled delights for consumption at the weekends or in company.......

Hi David,
Thank you for your sublime suggestion: a cricket box to study cannibal insects.
The more awkward, the better..!
Greetings,
Myra
