A fine Thangka painting depicting the Dharmapala Yama in yabyum.
Within a ring of roiling flames the protector steps to the right while in union with his consort. Below him are icy jagged mountain peaks within which are a further inamge of Yama and Yami astride the bull, and a form of Blue Mahakala within a triangular enclosure.
The thangka is in a highly unusual, limited palette of blues and browns, with minute touches of red. Three Tibetan inscriptions to the reverse.
