6. Box with drawers Tibet, likely originally from Kashmir 18th c. wood and paint and metal fittings 4" high, 3 7/8" wide 4 3/4" deep |
This charming box, likely a jewelry box, has two small drawers and with an empty space inside beneath the upper drawer. Purchased in Lhasa, the box appears to have come from Kashmir, where luxury goods were sourced for the Lhasa upper classes. The finely painted decoration is typical of the work of Srinagar, Kashmir.
