This is a hill version of the Newar Lakhe mask, a dancing demon who plays a role in several seasonal Newar festivals, particularly Indra Jatra. This mask was perhaps made by an immigrant Newar community in the hills of Nepal, or perhaps by the members of another tribal community in imitation of the Lakhe. Detail: Side |
