Inscriptions in my translation,
昔有狂人為詩云
一得従千慮狂愚輒自夸以為真不悪
古人莫之加 悲鴻時客 西馬拉雅之大吉嶺
Once a madman said in his poem,
"The greatest fool, in a thousand schemes, must hit once the truth - and the fools often sing their own praises -but they are not bad"
The old fool, Beihong as guest in the Himalayan
Darjeeling
Seal,
悲鴻之印 - Seal of Beihong
Leisure seal,
生于憂患 - (Born in misery)
According to the literature Xu Beihong painted this picture in 1940 when he visited India at the invitation of Rabindranat Tagore. No word about what happened to the picture after that.
The seals look perfect.
If the original cannot be found in any museums or private collections, a more serious investigation would be needed to determine if it is a genuine.
With regards,
I.Nagy
