Need help identifying artist |

Message Hello! I have been searching and trying to find out who this artist is and have had no luck. I am from a museum and we have a Kakejiku (Japanese hanging scroll) in our collection that we don’t know anything about. I learned it’s called a ‘Takasago’, which depicts an elderly couple on a beach with a pine tree, cranes, and a turtle. My best guess is it could’ve been made as a wedding gift or used for decoration in a wedding ceremony. The name of the artist is 教圓 and probably pronounced Kyoen. I’ve been told the scroll is around the late 18th to early 19th century. I can’t find any artist from that century that uses that name nor have I been able to find similar scrolls or art with the same signature. Any help or leads would be much appreciated! Thank you so much. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
