It reads 'Seiya iru' (casted by Seiya(, on e of the maker's marks of Genryusai Seiya.

To my knowledge, there is no illustrated guide with marks or seals available. Some of the marks of the most famous metaklworkers are shown in reference books about Japanese art during the Meiji period or okimono. The recent auction catalogues of Christies, but in particular Bonhams on Japanese art are a good resource - they can be consulted online also.

Hello Berny,
Did you ever get a name linked to this post. I have a set of 7 bronze elephants (ranging in size and positions) they all have this same stamp on them as the one you posted All I have been told is that they are from the Meiji period. It is a hard task as I do not read Japanese!
Many thanks,
regards Erica

I have a bronze bear that belonged to my grandfather that has that exact set of characters on it... I am looking for the value if any.

"Japanese Art Signatures" by James Self and Nobuko Hirose (first published in 1987) lists more than 3,000 metalworkers.

Yes indeed, a useful reference book that can help you in the reading of signatures and marks/seals.

I believe the characters 羽 廣 庴 製 identify the workshop or studio, maybe "made at the hall of broad feathers."

This maker's mark reads 羽廣屋製 or 'Hanehiroya sei' (made by the Hanehiro workshop).
