One of the most famous contemporary Japanese potters/ceramic sculptors is Takiguchi Kazuo. He exhibits frequently in New York as well as Japan. Unfortunately (since his works sell in the $1000 range), your pieces are not by him. His, though semi-abstract like yours, are much more heavily textured and they are hardly ever signed (the boxes of course are); or when they are signed it's certainly not in western script. I'll attach a couple of pictures of two of his simpler pieces; the grey one is kind of interesting because it has only two legs.
I like your too: they have a nice balance and elegance. Presumably they've been made by a potter working in or for the north American market. I hope you're able to find out who s/he is.
