Subject:Transcription of Ito Chuta Sketch 482
Posted By: Irwin Sat, Jul 04, 2026 IP: 174.127.209.134 The attached sketch by Itō Chūta titled Struggle Between Blacks and Whites in America (米國黑白爭鬪) was drawn following large-scale clashes between whites and Blacks in Washington and Chicago in late July-early August, 1919. The commentary by Ayai Tadahiko (綾井忠彦) signing as 無墨園 (Mobukuen?) appears to be a dialogue between the yellow-skinned (黄色?) and brown-skinned (偈觀?) figures watching the fight between and a black and a white cat. Any assistance in transcribing the dialogue and the signature of Ayai, would be very helpful. With thanks. |
