This hanging scroll bears a large inscription in the space at the top of the painting, known as the "Shitang” which reads:
清代畫家王鉴畫深山觀瀑圖軸精品
Qing Dynasty painter Wang Jian's exquisite scroll painting of deep mountains and waterfall.

Wang Jian 王鉴 (1598–1677) was one of the most important masters in the history of Chinese painting, active from the late Ming to the early Qing dynasties.

In the open space in the foreground the painting depicts two figures (literati) gazing at a flowing waterfall. This is a typical composition of a “Waterfall Viewing” painting.
The composition features powerful trees in the foreground (flat depth), cliffs surrounding a waterfall in the middle ground (depth), and distant mountains rising higher and higher in the background (height), creating a sense of infinite depth and scale within the limited vertical space of the hanging scroll.

Probably a museum copy.

1990s or more recent. The inscription in large characters above the painting claims this is by Wang Jian, a 17th century painter, who often painted works in the style of others, but his brushwork was more refined/subtle than the brushwork in this picture (some examples of this variety are here: https://www.shanghaimuseum.net/mu/frontend/pg/m/collection/antique?keywords=%E7%8E%8B%E9%89%B4 . only one is not obviously referring to someone else's painting style, but in the monochrome pictures you will notice weaker contrasts in light/dark than in your picture).

Wang Jian, styled Xuanzhao, also known as Xiangbi, also known as the Master of Ranxiang'an, was a native of Taicang, Jiangsu, grandson of Shizhen, served as governor of Gong Lianzhou. He enjoyed painting landscapes, with a rounded and robust brushwork. In his later years, he carved sharp notes into Wang Ximin's famous paintings of the mountains. His ink wash paintings were slightly tinged with ochre, and were even more complex - imitating Wang Shuming's unique painting techniques.
