Posted By: rat Thu, Mar 26, 2026 Wang Su 王素 was a 19th century painter whose actual style is hard to pin down because of the number of copies vs reliable works (eg here are 55 works attributed to him that show a wide variety of 19th century styles, but emphasizing figures https://www.sohu.com/a/222336085_439969). For me, the artificial aging/distressing here, the calligraphy, and the combination of colors point to this being a recent imitation. The trees seem interesting though; compare to Wen Zhengming's cypresses (Wen was a Ming painter). |
