Subject:Help identify Chinese Artist
Posted By: Ernest Gismant Sat, Apr 12, 2025 IP: 107.136.46.66

I purchased a watercolor painting from an artist working inside the Tung Dynasty exhibit in Kowloon China in 1985. The artist drew it for me while I waited. He used his fingernail as a brush. I am curious now as to who he was. Can you identify any of the seals on the painting for me. Will send more images.

For greater certainty, it would be good if you could post the full colophon with the signature of artist next to the seals.

The characters in the inscription are illegibly distant and small. I only want a properly enlarged in-focus image of the inscription. Don't need the whole picture.

Thank you for the pictures.
Unfortunately, the finger and fingernail is a difficult substitute for the brush in calligraphy.Almost half of the characters are not clearly legible.
My tentative reading(s).
伊文 (伯文)先生xx賦 争x by Zheng X
As a gift to Mr. Ivan (or to Mr. Bowen)
甲子年冬 In Winter of the Year of Wood-Rat (1984)
x Illegible signature
Upper seal,
江 Jiang - Surname
Lower seal,
指畫 Finger picture

The master could be Jiang Zheng Xⅹ 江争x

I have asked a gallery I know in Beijing, but no answer yet.

With regards,
I.Nagy
