Subject:Help identify Chinese? Yellow Vase
Posted By: Roger Fri, Mar 21, 2025 IP: 71.205.135.53

Hi All,
Bought this vase today and cannot figure out the mark on the bottom or if this is even a Chinese vase. I would greatly appreciate your help! Cheers!

This is definetely of chinese origin.
The pottery show the Four-character mark: Zhi: Cheng hua nian zhi, (Made during the Chenghua reign (1465-1487).

成化 (Chénghuà)
Refers to the Chenghua reign period of Emperor Xianzong of the Ming Dynasty.
年 (nián): "Year" or "reign period."
制 (zhì): "Made" or "crafted," commonly used in imperial porcelain and artifact markings to denote production under imperial auspices. The mark 成化年制 is typically found on Ming Dynasty porcelain, especially Chenghua-era imperial kiln products.

But wait, wait, wait. This object is definetely not so old. So the mark don't say anything on the object's age. Please, see an expert to say to you this was made probably in 20th, no before.

But don't be sad, this is the most common.
See you,
Renato
