Subject:Painting: Identify Characters and Seal
Posted By: Miano Sat, Mar 22, 2025 IP: 112.198.101.16

Hello Friends,

I would like to identify the artist and/or period.

It is a chinese painting, mounted on a scroll with calligraphy (characters) & a seal. Would you be in a position to translate the characters/seals, advise any artist who this work maybe attributed to and the period(60 year cycle)?

Finally, is this Japanese or Chinese?

Kind regards,

Miano

Well well, this is unsetling...

Could this be a A gō (号), or art name, perhaps used by a female painter, poet, or calligrapher? I saw at first something like:

玉羽子 Tama Haneko (a female name - if I am correct) soundslike "Jade(white)-Feathered Girl" or "Child of the Jade(white) Feather" (meaning "Girl of white arrow feathers")

But i must be wrong! Mainly because of the seal hint which may be the older way to write the same name we are looking for. Where the last ofthe 3 characters (the one below the other from the left side) certainly is not "子". So, the name is missing the last character "玉羽* " Tama Ha(*)"

I know this isnot much but...is as far I can go.
Best Regards,
Renato
