Would appreciate very much your inputs on this pair of brass vases (30”).

Under natural light ... Also, it is opened at both ends, with plastic sleeve for protection of the rims.
Ideas on origin, period, and what they are for ... anyone?

Not sure if it is brass and it might even be gilt?!
There is a brownish/orangish colored "background" both out and inside. Also, it is non-magnetic, very heavy and cold to the touch.

I can very much be wrong ... Judging from what I can see, I am guessing that the bodies of the "vases" (being bottomless) probably was made of copper alloy / bronze?(VERY heavy for their sizes; with shiny orange-reddish colored speckles), then melt brass? (sign of being oxidized) was applied onto for the decorating patterns, followed by copper inlaying and gilting ??? Again, please pardon my ignorance, from which I am learning from!
The curvy lines and scroll borders look Chinese to me (?), and the "mechanical gear"-like feature somewhat reminds me of a similar pair of objects from an important collection that were auctioned by one of the major houses in the past?
Just thought that one of you might have seen or known ...
My wife does not like cluttering the house, so many randomly acquired things have been in storage for years. Besides working, this is my hoppy to go through and study them, one by one, as I am slowly trying to repopulate the house, hopefully without her knowing :))

I'm not an expert by any means however I have been involved in the Antique industry for almost 15 years.
Your vessels appear to be northern Indian in origin, possibly Pakistani. While they are very pretty, without a firm provenance or expert attribution, most of their sale appeal will be decorative value.
I know it's not much but it might give you a lead to start with.

Yes, “vessel” is a more appropriate term as these clearly are not vases! Also, my mentioning of recalling similar auctioned objects was only because of the similar striking “mechanical gear”-like feature that was worthy of noticing😊

And they were made in pieces, then put together ( which might be obvious to some of you but new to me). Though it is interesting to share 😊
