Posted By: Bill Hardy Mon, Feb 27, 2023 The seal script character mark reads "Guangdong controlled" (Zhi Yue - 治粵). The cautionary statement in English is the type of warning seen in the early 1970s on Chinese porcelain blanks decorated in Hong Kong and Macao. While I've seen Yue/粵 in other Guangdong porcelain marks and provincial customs stamps, this is the first time I've seen it in tandem with the Zhi/治 character and believe this character mark and warning notice probably were added to a Guangdong-made porcelain blank that was decorated in Hong Kong during the period mentioned above. |
