Subject:Japanese bronze mark
Posted By: Lars Tue, Dec 27, 2022 IP: 2600:1700:8fc0:ddc0: Any idea who the artist is behind this Toho signature in old Kanji on Japanese bronze sculpture? |

Posted By: Bill H Wed, Dec 28, 2022 Hate to say it, but if the artist who chiseled the Toho mark where we see it didn't sign their own name somewhere on the sculpture, who knows. The characters 東峰 (Toho), Lit. "East Peak" appear rather generic to me. But here's a look at a 2013 Bonham's auction catalog listing if it might help put your sculpture in any better perspective. |

Posted By: Lars Fri, Dec 30, 2022 Thanks Bill, a dealer from Japan wrote me that it was signed by an old timer in old Kanji Japanese. |
