Subject:Nephrite or Jadeite Pouring Vessel with Grecian Key Bordered Rim
Posted By: Warren L. Sat, Dec 03, 2022 IP: 172.92.126.213

I have no illusions about deep antiquity in this piece...but its similarity with both a Christie's and a Sotheby's past auction offering give me pause. I've had it for maybe 20 years, but cannot say more about it with any certainty.

~92 grams, 4" long, 1 1/2" high at the pouring lip, 1 7/8" wide; the bore of the grip is ~12mm.
It is quite hard enough to resist a good steel point, and highly polished on all surfaces. More pics to follow approval of this post.

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome...Thanks!

Going by your info, it is Nephrite, late Ching dyn.

If the second picture would not be blurry, I could change my opinion.

I respectfully beg to differ, based on the quality of the jade and the carving lines on this jade piece, I do not believe it is that of Qin dynasty. They are simply too inferior to be an authentic Qin Hetian nephrite jade carving. Sorry. Super

Hi Warren,
Its a nice jade carving.
In my opinion it's not later Qing but highly probable to be much later. However, your images are blurry.
The overshooting of the lines is not a good sign. Nor is what looks like very small chipping on either sides of the said lines. These have been for the most part cleverly polished to disguise the modern tooling.
Regards,
Mark@imperial

Thank you, Mark...I'm still pleased to have it, aged or not.
Very good of you to comment, I'm grateful!
Best, Warren
