Subject:Character identification or translation help please
Posted By: Kay Dee Fri, Nov 11, 2022 IP: 85.76.100.51

I wonder if anyone could identify what appears to be a Chinese character carved on the front of a wooden table in photo below.

Thanks for any help.

This is an auspicious Chinese character pronounced in mandarin as “shuangxi” meaning “double happiness” and seen on red placards at weddings, the birth of male children (in olden days) and other celebrations such as Chinese new year.

Best regards,

Bill H.
