Dear I Nagy,

I was very surprised when I saw this seal image, as it looks like it could have been one I had carved. The point is, for more than 20 years I have carved a seal each year for the year name.

The seal actually reads the name of the year JiWei 己未. (1919, 1979) in the Chinese 60 year cycle.

Here are two of my seals from a work featuring my Year Seals I did for an exhibition in FoShan China a few years ago. The two seals are for the years JiChou 己丑 and GuiWei 癸未.

However I don't think I carved the seal, but it is similar to my approach.

Should you be interested, the two works I exhibited in Foshan both featured the ancient name of the city: 季華. The exhibition was a joint display with works from Australia and the Foshan society.

The couplet was composed for me by a friend in Hong Kong, and the seal composition has more than 100 impressions of various of my year seals.

Interesting. Because there are a number of different interpretations of the last line of the colophon. I understand any of them could be correct.

寫于（於）得江 Painted at DeJiang (a place)

寫于得江 Painted by Yu DeJiang (a person)

寫于得所 Painted at a special place (as suggested by I Nagy.)

Incidentally, one of the accepted ways of writing 所 in caoshu (draft script) does appear to be the same as a way of writing 江 in the same script. Sorry if that's confusing, but in the realm of caoshu there are many similar situations.
