Signature,
Painted by Shōin
Seal,
Shōin

In the absence of suitable online reference works I cannot decide which Shōin (松蔭 or 松陰 is among the five who are known in the painters` name register.

With regards,
I. Nagy

Peter,
You are right. The signature reads more reasonably;
Masanobu -zu
Seal;
Shōinshi
I found the seal in the
p.331
Regards,
I.Nagy

Thank You for the information. I am a bit confused but is this a copy of Masundou done by artist later named Shoin?

No, I am sure this is an original painting by Touun Masunobu.
Sometimes its just difficult to read handwritten characters and seal prints and you actually need the experience of having seen a reference painting of the painter you could remember.

Just to make it clear;
Name;
Kanō Masanobu
Kanō school painter、adopted son (son-in-law) of Kanō Tanyū.
His childhood name was Yamasaburō
His common name was Uneme 采女
and his pesudonyms were;
Tōun (Dōun)
Sōshindōjin
(Person in the shade of pine)
The pseudonym 洞雲 Tōun is used to distinguish
him from the earlier Kanō Masanobu 1434-1530 - however his name is written with different characters.

With regards,
I.Nagy
