It's trying to be a Ru ware tripod censer, but only about 70 genuine Ru wares, including kiln wasters, are know to exist.

Thanks for the response. Do you think it is made during Qing dynasty trying to copy Ru Ware or modern copy? Has signs of age but I am unsure if old or buried in backyard to make look old etc.. Any opinion is appreciated. Supposedly came from very good collection BUT we all know the storys etc so any help is appreciated. A few more photos if it helps.

Suggest you search the British Museum Online Collection for "Ru ware". There you will find a genuine Northern Song Ru ware tripod censer from the Percival David Foundation collection. Take note of the dimensions compared with yours. You might also send pictures to the major auction houses for an opinion. I think the chances of finding a genuine one, even a cut-down kiln waster, are very small.

After inspecting both I agree that even if shaved down the inch then it would be missing the third top ring impression by the metal top protector thing. The footrim looks pretty spot on do you think it is a modern copy faked to look old unlikely they made these so similar in different sizes ?? Thanks again for the education !

Hello John A
"Supposedly came from very good collection BUT".
That worries me. If it did then you can find it.
Respectfully
D
