Subject:bud vase identification
Posted By: Jason Karras Sun, Sep 04, 2022 IP: 2601:249:9080:c90:48 I was hoping someone could give their thoughts on age / identification of this vase I have. It is 6.5" high and has an old handwritten price sticker on one side. |

Posted By: Bill H Mon, Sep 05, 2022 The label says "Made during the Great Ming Dynasty" (Da ming nian zao) in standard characters. The yellowed "lick-n'-stick" label is a type that was in use around the second and third quarters of the 20th century. The writing on it looks to be a shop number and price "C瓷 (Ci - Porcelain) 25.--". The piece could have been sold by a Chinese gift shop anywhere from the China Mainland to Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan if not another Asian center of Chinese culture. I don't believe the vase is any older than the label. |
