Subject:Request help in identifying 1000 faces Japanese Bowl
Posted By: Roger Wed, Jul 27, 2022 IP: 2601:281:d300:975:d0 Hi Friends! Request your help identifying the maker of this bowl and help identifying what it is. I suspect it is a brush washer for something like that. Thanks much! |

Posted By: Steve Gridley Fri, Jul 29, 2022 This is most likely what is known as a "hair receiver". Women would save the hair in the hairbrush and place the hair through the hole. Typically a Victorian practice. The hair was later woven or braided for watch FOBs, to place in pendants, and to place in pendant and ring memorials after death. |
