Subject:Wooden statue of a cat but from where?

Some time ago I bought this wooden statue. I was then told that it is Asian but not from which country. I've searched the internet for a long time but haven't found anything similar. So my question is, can anyone tell me more about this?

In my opinion, the cat has a look similar to an Abyssinian and the carving looks more African continent to me. The red, blue, and white may have represented the colors of a nation at one time.
