Subject:Miniature Copper Teapot with Cast-In Signature; for Authentication
Posted By: Warren L. Whittier Sun, May 08, 2022 IP: 24.113.25.199

This is ~3¼" body diameter, and roughly the same height to the lid finial; weight is 368 grams. Each side has a Bat. 32 'petals' adorn the lid, and matching petals on the top and base have the same count. The signature 'block' looks Chinese to me.
I am familiar with the frequent occurrence of ancient and well known signatures being used on knock-off, poorly made modern cast reproductions, so I'm primed for disappointment about this...but its quality isn't in question, and its provenance is family, from 1953 or so (brought from Japan at the end of the American Occupation, or GHQ era). It shows use; there is water scale over the interior, and small wear spots on the foot.
I will be grateful for a translation, as well as an assessment of age as indicated by the signature. All comments are, of course, very welcome...and will be gratefully acknowledged. Comprehensive pics of the teapot itself will be uploaded as soon as this post is published. Thank you sincerely, all...Warren

It is Chinease.
Bottom mark reads,
荊溪禹記 - Jing Xiyu Mark (Surname and given name)
Most probably it is a Republic era product.

With regards,
I.Nagy
