Subject:Japanese Kutani?
Posted By: David Sat, Apr 16, 2022 IP: 90.254.195.170

Hello All.
I was told this is a Meiji Kutani mark but I can't find it at any of my basic sources and the first Kutani character is missing. It looks more like Arita to me. Can anyone help? Sorry for the bad picture. It was the best I could get out of a poor original.
Best wishes to all
D

Dear All. I had a closer look and I found an insized stamp of the kutani mark which I had missed. I don't see very well these days. I also got a better picture of the side and top. Meiji? I just don't know so if anyone can advise.
Many thanks and best wishes to all.

Hello All.
I am sure I am making a terrible hash of this but I am exercising the grey matter and my effort comes up so far with this. As I read the kanji. Character 3 and 4 are a mystery.
Best wishes

David,
I noticed that the mark (2nd Kanji) in your first post is not exactly the same as the one in your second post.
The mark in the first post IMO reads: Hisaka 久香 Do 堂 Ga 画 (Hisakado Ga) = Painted by Hisaka Do.
See my picture.

I can't find the 2nd Kanji of the mark in your second post, but if it's on the same kind of bowl, it might be Hisaka as well.

However, if someone has a better idea, I'm really curious.
Regards,
Martin.
