Hi rat,
Interesting 🧐 I have some hongmu items, non of them have the lustre along with the gold thread as in the images.
Hongmu is awesome either way!

Thanks for your interest,
As I noted in above responses, I have a few items made from Hongmu’ and Zitan . The two woods have very similar caricatures! But what is clearly different and noticeable is the soft twisting grain along with the golden thread throughout the grain. Also the shadows of deep lustre the Zitan displays. If you have touched and studied real Zitan it’s easier too recognise. We must remember also the quality and grade of the wood, High quality Zitan was mainly used for higher quality item projects .

What... Jack? Are those gold threads? do they have chatoyance? Honestly there really don't appear to be any defining characteristics in this photograph whatsoever, & it's going to continue to be virtually impossible to understand what you're trying to show us unless you actually go to the trouble of explaining exactly what it is that you see.
