Posted By: Bill H Sat, Nov 20, 2021 This is a Japanese plate which reminds me a bit of blue & white patterned plates I've seen with marks of the Yamatoku (Mountain Virtue) kiln which has operated in Saga prefecture since the Meiji period. Some of their marks are difficult to spot under the glaze. However, I don't see any sign of one on the base as shown here, so the resemblance could just be coincidental. Probably Taisho period (1912-26) or somewhat later. But other expert collectors know this subject much better than I do. |
