Subject:Strange Chinese Ceramic Plates
Posted By: Sachin Gupta Fri, Nov 19, 2021 IP: 2001:8004:27a0:96a5:

I bought these plates few months back but could not find much information. I only see the fungus mark on each plates. I dont even know are those plates or what? These are set of 7 plates.

Will you please let me know what year they belong to or which dynasty. Does these looks authentic plates or fakes. Is the cobalt blue and foot rim belong to that era.

What could be the worth of 7 plates all together. There is no damage to any plates.

Any information will be great, also where I can sell these if those are real plates.

These items look like they've become separated from a boxed set of sweetmeat serving dishes, probably of fairly recent vintage. here's a link to a possibly earlier set sold several years ago in in a live auction and possibly a bit earlier in age.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hi Bill,

Thank you so much for your input. I can see the sweet meat dishes in the url you gave me. Do you think it is 19th Century and it has any value knowing it is missing some pieces.

Do you know which dynasty it belobgs too? Also fungus mark has any significance in dating?

Regards
Sachin Gupta

As I said before, your dishes probably are of fairly recent vintage, not Qing, and they probably have only diminished decorative value as they constitute a partial set. The lingzhi fungus is not meant to be a mark but part of the decoration on these dishes.

Best regards,

Bill H.
