Subject:Re: Vase Qing Dynasty?
Posted By: Bill H Thu, Oct 28, 2021 This vase is of a type that mostly was produced in the Guangxu Era (1875-1908) with a faux Ming Chenghua reign mark. I'd speculate that the faux Qing Kangxi reign mark on this one of "Made in the Kangxi Reign - Kangxi nian zhi) may push this mark's date into the next reign of the Xuantong emperor (1909-11) or the Republic Period (1912-49). It applies to my thinking that the Guangxu emperor was held in contempt and imprisoned by the powerful Empress Dowager Cixi and palace eunuchs until both she and the Guangxu Emperor died in November 1908, and political views changed during the remaining years of Qing rule between the Xuantong emperor and beginning of the Republic period in 1912. |
