Posted By: Bill H Wed, Oct 06, 2021 Your second photo above seems to show an ormolu-clad pastiche having a porcelain vase in the Japanese style that's stuffed in the mouth of a bronze vase with ormolu mounts modeled in various floral styles and nothing resembling a dragon as far as I can see. The only thing remarkable seems to me to be how the Japanese style "Geisha" scene on the apparent ceramic surface bears a resemblance to what I've seen at Gotheborg.com in the past on porcelains painted since the 1980s in a contemporary Chinese factory or factories and labeled in English with varying Chinese subtitles as "Royal Satsuma" or sometimes just "Satsuma". The info at gotheborg.com has some enlargeable photos. I've also seen some labels elsewhere on Chinese porcelains that read "Imperial Satsuma" and may be from the same source. |
