Subject:Japan Art?
Posted By: Valentín Karámanliev Thu, Sep 23, 2021 IP: 2a0c:5a80:1215:4900:

Hello all,

I don't know what that is. Something shiny and looks printed. Does anyone have any idea what this is? And is there any value?

This is a fancy reproduction of a Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada from his series "Lasting impressions of a later Genji collection" - Genji ato shū yojō - 源氏後集余情. It corresponds to chapter 6 from the novel "Tales of the Genji". Go to the link below and scroll down to 6 and it is the right side of the diptych.

http://www.kunisada.de/Kunisada-Genji/Genji-Diptych-1858-59/genji-diptych-1858-59-1.htm

We have a print from the series - Chapter 4 below.

I expect that it has decorative value only.

Cheers,
Stan
