Subject:chinese teapot?

I am completely new to this and trying to learn a bit more about this piece (approximate period and material, at the very least). I inherited it from my grandparents...so it is at least 40-50 years old.

Hi Aaron,
In my opinion it's not Chinese. It's Japanese.
Marked on the base in part Great Nippon.
I think it's from the late Meiji period 1868-1912 to the Taisho period 1912-1926. So 1900-1920.

Thank you! Yes, I realized this morning that it was japanese, not Chinese. Thank you so much for the information dating the piece.

Mark is right, it's Japanese.
The mark reads: Dai 大 Nippon 日本 Imoto 井元 Zo 造 (= Great Japan made by Imoto). The second kanji of Imoto 元 is written in a more cursive way.
Since it's a stamped mark this dates from 1920-1940 rather than earlier (see Gotheborg Japanese Porcelain Marks / Dai Nippon (Great Japan) printed marks (1920-40): https://gotheborg.com/marks/20thcenturyjapan.shtml).
Transfer printed and poor hand colored Kutani export ware.

Mark of Imoto Tamesaburo (1874-1945) - Nagoya.
