I was wondering if Mark could comment on this piece.

Hi Sean,
This image is 100% by Wang Qi.
I know this image from page 102 'Chinese porcelain of the republic period' by Simon Kwan.
Regards,
Mark

Just checking to see if you know what you are talking about. As you can see, the marks are the similar to mine in my earlier Wang Qi posting. And you said the marks are not right. If you look carefully, the calligraphy of mine and documented ones are quite similar as well. It’s prudent to be skeptical and to agree upon disagreeing on stylistic or period costumes. Just to note that there are a lot we do not know about.
Just check my response and pic to your earlier comment on my earlier Wang Qi posting.

Imho, not really. The painting of the hand is weak and the parts below the face are too busy, not in the style of Wang Qi.
Note that this is just my opinion and one has to see the calligraphy and inspect the piece is person to make a better and complete judgment. I know it gets personal but the only test is to put it in an auction and let the public decide. I buy because I like the skill of the artwork and can afford to enjoy the artwork, regardless of what others say. The opinions can be very subjective even with a lot of literature around Chinese artworks. Too many fakes.
