Subject:Help with Identifying Ceramic Butterfly Plate
Posted By: Rick Tue, Jul 20, 2021 IP: 72.227.229.225

Hello! I recently purchased this plate at an antique store in Maine. I am not familiar with this style of ceramic with such thick enamel(?) paint. I would appreciate any help in identifying the artist, the country of origin, and the name of this style of ceramic. Kind regards, Rick

The mark reads: Kinkozan 錦光山 in a kind of cursive way. Made by the Kinkozan factory about 1900-1925.
This pattern is quite rare, I have a cup by the same maker with the same pattern and decorated with cranes, see pictures.
Regards,
Martin.

Hi Martin,

Thank you very much for identifying my plate. It's always a great feeling to know the history of a piece in one's collection.

Again, many thanks!

Kind regards,
Rick
