Sterling silver. Made in sheffield England.
I think these were used to carve up a roast. The fork you have was to hold the meat whilst you carve it.
Would have add a bone or ivory handle.

Hi,

It's part of a carving fork. There would have been a handle at some point, probably silver, horn or wooden. It's unusual though for them to be in silver.

You would have pulled than lever down to tighten it. Evidently the handle has been lost or damaged and now only the prongs are left.

It's London (I think) sterling Silver (Lion passant).

Hope this helps,

Regards,

This type of tool is used to remove horseshoes and nails from the hooves of horses.

It is a silver carving fork. The handle has broken or fallen off the hasp. The bit sticking up is a guard to protect the hand of the carver if the knife should slip.

The hallmarks should also have a date letter, but it is British silver and I think marked for London. However, I cannot access my reference at this time to be certain.
