Subject:Japanese wood and ivory netsuke
Posted By: Tom Aspden Sun, Jul 11, 2021 IP: 31.205.1.41

Hi, I would be grateful if someone could tell me the name on this netsuke I bought recently.

The marks are 正光 (I think) if it is unclear on the photograph

Signature reads,
正光 - Masamitsu

I don't have any information on him.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Not so sure, but could this be a very good Tagua nut carving

I don't think so, it doesn't feel like a tagua nut to me, so I suspect it is some form or other of ivory.

Your netsukes himotoshi (holes) are the same size and should be different sizes.
This indicates that yours is a modern interpretation from the 2nd half of the 20th century.
