Subject:Chinese or Japanese scroll painting? Woodblock print? Zodiac signs

Hi I was wondering if this is Japanese or Chinese? It has zodiac signs - could it be a battle scene also? I would love to know when this was made and what it signifies and if it is Chinese or Japanese any help would be much appreciated!

These type of calendars are quite common, but in
most cases they are not illustrated so lucratively
like this.
I think it is from the beginning of the 20th c.
