Hello, I’m hoping to identify the artist’s seal and inscription on a Chinese painting I own. I’d appreciate any insight into the translation, artist, or period. Thank you. Kasia

江陸張氏　Jianglu Master Zhang　
Lower seal,
遠聲書画　Painting and Calligraphy of Yuansheng
Leisure seal,
江在風流　The river is cool in the wind
The third seal is illegible.

Zhang Yuansheng 張遠聲　1933-
is a renowned calligrapher and painter in the Jingchu region. He serves as a director at the China Calligraphy and Painting Research Association. Senior/First-class Master of Arts and Crafts.

I was wondering whether you are aware of any additional resources about this artist. Chinese-language sources would be perfectly fine as well. I have tried searching but have not been able to find much information beyond the brief biography accompanying the painting.

Copy and paste the Chinese URL below into your Google, open the website ofthe Mingyantang Auction House, and then click on the calligraphy works on the right-hand side; under "sf004," you will find a calligraphy work by Zhang Yuansheng. It has the same signature and seals.
If you can't read Chinese, use the translation feature of your PC.

If I can’t find the names of contemporary artists on Chinese language search engines, I go through the lists of names from various auction houses. That’s how I came across the name Zhang Yuansheng. In addition, I periodically purchase relevant literature from China.
