Title cartouche,
日々儉約一年の積高
Hibi kenyaku ichinen no tsumidaka
Small daily savings add up over a year

The table illustrates that if
we double an initial investment of 2 Mon every day, we can see how much we will have saved after 365 days.
(2,4,8,16,32.64...)
The total amount, converted to Ryō, is 1,000 Ryō and 3 Momme

(1 Ryō of gold = 60 Momme of silver = 4000 Mon of copper)

Signature,
一寶斎
国盛 画 Painted by Ippōsai Kunimori
(Utagawa Kunimori II)

With regards,
I.Nagy

I did not find the geometric progression you mentioned. it might be in another one of the moneytree prints I posted.
I really do not understand the rationale and meaning behind these three blocks of numbers and currencies.
I attach my effort at deciphering the blocks.
What do you think?

In the meantime, I’ve looked into the issue a bit more closely. In light of this, I need to revise my answer to Shinsai Eisho’s question about the money tree. First of all, the character 〆 (Hitoshime) means 1,000 coins tied together with a string.
This refers to a unit used to count currency during the Edo period.
As for gold coins,
1 両(Ryo) = 4 分(Bu) = 16 朱(Shu)
1 両(Ryo) = 60 匁 Monme (Silver)
1 両 (Ryo) = 4000 文 Mon (Copper)

Maybe this make it clearer.

Regards,
I.Nagy

I posted another view of this print with my reading of the values. There are three sections, each with 29 columns, for one month I agree. There is no x2 in consecutive values in any of the 3 sections.
So what are they showing and what is the logical link between them, I still wonder...
Thanks a lot for your insight!
