Subject:Another hosoban portrait of an actor
Posted By: jean-gabriel Thu, Apr 16, 2026 IP: 90.70.45.6

Hello, I posted a portrait of an Onnagata (I believe). There is very little information about this print--only a signature that I have not been able to identify.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards.

Thank you for your help.
Looking at the website “https://www.ukiyoesig.net/”
, I find that the signature is somewhat different from that of Shunsen, although there is a strong resemblance. The one it most closely resembles is Shunkō, with the character “kō” being very calligraphic. Nevertheless, the two “dots” above the character make me question my interpretation… unless they are simply small specks of dirt unrelated to the signature. Could you provide me with links to scans of prints in which Shunsen signed in this way? thks Best regards
