Pic.1,

白草黄雲塞上秋,
曾随驎騎出并州。
轆轤劔折虬髯白,
轉戦功多獨不侯
White grass and yellow clouds in autumn on the frontier,
I once followed the cavalry out of Bingzhou.
The coiled sword lies shattered, his beard grizzled white,
Through countless battles, merits vast, yet alone not honored.

Poem titled "Gift to the old general" by the Tang Dynasty poet Quan Deyu.

Pic.2,

伏波惟愿裹尸還,定遠何须生入關。 莫遣只輪歸海窟,仍留一箭射天
The gallant general would return in a winding-sheet,
Why should the brave defender come back alive through the pass?
Don’t let a single chariot wheel go back to the sea den!
Leave an arrow to shoot the Tianshan Mountain again!

Li Yi's "Song of the Frontier", Tang Dynasty

With regards,
I.Nagy
