Subject:Other challenge from Toyohiro
Posted By: Renato Thu, Jan 30, 2025 IP: 177.140.12.187

Dear friends,

I got this Toyohiro surimono challenge for you.

I figure out what could be written in this cursive kana poem from "Ishiyama shugetsu, autumn moon at Ishiyama temple" (Omi hakkei series, the eight views of Omi)

Any hints?
Hugs from Brazil

石山秋月 Ishiyama shūgetsu
Autumn moon at Ishiyama

石山やにほの海てる月かけは
あかしもすまも外ならぬかは

Ishiyama ya nio no umi teru tsukikage wa
Akashi mo Suma mo hoka naranu ka wa

The moonlight shining on the Sea of Nio*
seen from Ishiyama,
neither Akashi nor Suma can match it

* Alternative name for Lake Biwa

For technical reasons alternative kanas are represented in their modern forms.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear Mr. Nagy,

You are incredibly compassionate toward our huge ignorance in asian art.
you encourage me to keep trying...
Many thanks,
Renato
