Subject:Translation of Kunisada print title
Posted By: Gabie Thu, Jan 23, 2025 IP: 86.185.36.228

Good morning everyone,

There is a vertical print of a young girl carrying a textbook that I'm hoping to find the title for. I've only come across two strikings with a title(attached), while the others were published without.

Could anyone help to translate/transcribe the title and the words on the textbook?

Many thanks,

Gabie

Title,
Odoriko-zukushi -All kind of dancers
Tenaraiko - Student

Colophon、
On demand
Kochoro - Pseudonym
Painted by Kunisada
Seal,
Marusei-han, Marusei (Maruya Seijiro) Edition

Inscription on the scratch-book in the hand of the dancer.
Student's scratch-book
14th (Water-Rabbit) Year of Tenpo Era (1844)
On an Auspicious Day of January

The date on the inscription suggests her debut on the Kabuki stage.

With regards,
I.Nagy
