Subject:Mark identification
Posted By: Lars Sat, Jan 11, 2025 IP: 77.172.83.190

My grandmother showed me this teacup and saucer with this full color design and a Chinese or Japanese mark on the bottom. Does anyone know what the mark is?

The mark is Japanese and it's a Torii (= gate) with a number in it: 63 六三 (roku san).
No idea who made this and what the number represents. I've seen these Torii with other numbers as well like 41, 42, 57, 61 and 65. I'm not sure about the age of this cup and saucer, might be 1930's till 1960's.
Regards,
Martin.
