The base was originally a bronze mirror,
Inscriptions,
千秋　Senshū 　- Thousand years
天下一藤原重永　-　Fujiwara Shigenaga, the best in the world
(Late Edo period mirror maker)

Marking on the bottom,
大日本京都　-　Dai Nihon Kyōto - Great Japan,Kyōto
村上造　　　-　Murakami-zō - Made by Murakami
